Let us probe the silent places, let us seek what luck betide us;
Let us journey to a lonely land I know.
There's a whisper on the night-wind, there's a star agleam to guide us,
And the Wild is calling, calling . . . let us go.

Tischu River to McMillan Pass

John Writes

Wake up at 7:00 so that we can get an early start on the drive to the border. Get underway around 9:30 and make it to our campsite (about 10 miles down the road) shortly after 10:00. We dump everything out of the truck, put together a survival pack with the ten essentials and then Steve and I take the truck back to Mile 222. When we get there, the new Wildlife Officer is already there and he agrees to give us a lift down to our camp as soon as his office gets set up. We make it back to the campsite at 12:30. Bathing, laundry, wildlife and lichen viewing occupy the rest of the day.
